The name says it all.
Teach the kids, especially the Get Ready! girls how to cook and also expose them to the various cuisine around the world.
It's a great way to learn different cultures and also a very necessary skill - which i unfortunately lack sorely.

Greetings,
I work with low tech, low cost solar powered cookers. These are fun to build and great for rice, other grains, fish and meats and will do vegetable as long as frying isn't in the plan. Some will also bake breads and cakes. The inexpensive cookers are "slowcookers" to use an American expression. Of course the sun poweer is free and healthy.
Is this something you could use?
Peace
Sounds interesting. Have you got any pictures?
Angeline.
check out the solarcooking.org website. it is the classic site with all sorts of reviews, video, etc. and please feel free to question me about what you learn there. basically, we would need to be creative. study the available materials and move on. for instance, the "cookit" reflector cooker you will see on the site requires an oven bag to surround the cook pot. however, I've used plastic bags, big water bottles, glass bowls and other substitutes with success.
Peace be with you.
Rennie
Hey Rennie,
I'm still looking through the site. There's alot of information in there though i don't think there's an immediate need for alternative cooking devices at Riverkids.
Will still continue looking through the website to see if there's anything we can apply. :)
Thanks!
Angeline, i'd be really happy to do a cooking class or two while i'm in PP next month. i'll prepare something and email to you for your agreement. do we want western food ie. things they might cook if they get a job in a cafe, or food that the locals might also like? i've got lots of cheap and simple recipes that i can share.
Hey!
A cooking class will be great. The main thing is if we have the equipment in Alexandra's kitchen. Cooking there is mainly done over a traditional charcoal stove not something most people are used to nowadays. But I can ask around.
The cooking classes may have to be held outside of Alexandra then. Maybe Blum's house could be possible... hmm... I'll ask Sophon about it.
