You would notice the prominent calendar at the top of the main discussions page. It'll show the updates of Riverkids' important events and volunteer activities in both Singapore and Cambodia.

Volunteer activities in Cambodia mainly working this way:
1) Someone expresses interests in working with Riverkids
2) Riverkids will match skills of the would-be volunteer with skillsets that the community/ staff can benefit from (eg, sewing workshops, office administration/ documentation, etc)
3) Volunteer will pick when s/he can make it to Cambodia for the volunteer activity
4) If it's a short volunteer trip (eg, workshop), an itinerary will be drawn up.
5) If it's a volunteer stint, (eg, a few months) the volunteer can opt to stay in the Riverkids Volunteer hostel. However, it's only open to females and space is limited. Of course we can also give advice on alternative places to stay.
6) Basically there's alot of flexibility and independence accorded to the volunteer.

Of course there are other volunteer opportunities for volunteers - especially those coming in groups -in the form of outings. A group of volunteers from Women on Missions  went up a couple of months back and brought the kids on a day trip to the zoo. For most of the kids, it was their first time to the zoo. And this outing could not be successful without the volunteers watching out for the kids.

There are also weekly outings to places organised by the Riverkids Foundation staff as well - we'll be getting more organised and putting up weekly outing schedules so that potential volunteers who wish to help out by lending extra pairs of hands and eyes to watch the kids can opt to do so.
