Graphic Designers for RK Ad Banners
in International Volunteers , last reply by finza at June 10. Tagged banner advertisements place
Riverkids wants Designers (basically anyone who's got an eye for design and can use photoshop) to design adverts, banners on demand!
This will be an adhoc volunteer opportunity and can be done from home individually or with a group of friends but what we need are COMMITED people who would come forward and say 'YES! we'll cook something up within a set deadline'.
The plan is to have a steady pool of 'RK designers' who can deliver and send us designs - quirky, Riverkid-ish - designs for the shop or for awareness campaigns within a set deadline.

Riverkids Shop Volunteers
in Sg Volunteers , last reply by Angeline Riverkids at March 19. Tagged volunteer management shop
We need help with the shop! We're looking for dedicated people or
groups of people to come together to make the shop much better than it
already is - at the same time keeping costs low!
Volunteers
interested in this can help out on an adhoc basis or a more regular
basis depending on the position.
Position 1: Inventory management
Position 2: Marketing and Publicity

Cooking Workshops
in International Volunteers , last reply by Angeline Riverkids at February 11. Tagged alternative month study
The name says it all.
Teach the kids, especially the Get Ready! girls how to cook and also expose them to the various cuisine around the world.
It's a great way to learn different cultures and also a very necessary skill - which i unfortunately lack sorely.

Market for Crochet Trimmings?
in Microfinancing Advisory Circle , by Angeline Riverkids February 5. Tagged Get-Ready microfinance business
I was up a Phnom Penh, Riverkids Foundation 2 weeks back with Elaine, a volunteer who offered to come up with a business proposal for the Bright Girls - the graduated Get Ready! Girls who are now training to make little girl clothes and dolls. Though the dresses are getting better, the girls still have a long way to go. The sewing trainer in charge of teaching them mentioned that they will need another 6 months of training to perfect their sewing skills and learn the basics of design and cutting templates pre-sewing. And there's also the training in starting a business.
Fundraising for Breakdancing classes in Riverkids
in Fundraising , by Angeline Riverkids February 5. Tagged sports break-dancing tiny
Tiny Toones is a group in Cambodia that teaches kids and teenagers break dancing. KK and Tango came by the Riverkids Foundation (Cambodia) office 2 weeks back when I was still in Cambodia and we talked about firming up our plans for collaboration. (They were the ones who did the graffiti mural for the Family House as well)
We're now planning to have once a week lessons for the grade schoolers from 4.30 to 6pm every Thursdays and if it's popular with the kids, we'll extend lessons to twice a week, so more can have fun.

And those who can offer transportation to carry the shop items from our Hooper road office to the Arts house and back, please do come forward!
Working on Creativity
in International Volunteers , last reply by Liz Morris at January 8. Tagged attitude liz fear
We had a debrief yesterday at the office with the Raffles Junior College teachers regarding their 2-3 weeks service learning trip at Riverkids Foundation and creativity (especially of the Get Ready! Girls) was something that popped up.
Though the girls had great skill in doing craft work, knitting , crocheting, etc, creativity was sorely lacking. Getting them to do craft usually results in all of them making the exact same product as the other, which is good when you're practising your craft skills etc, but not very exciting. Plus, their fear of making mistakes stops them from doing things out of the box.
Storage Help
in Sg Volunteers , last reply by Angeline Riverkids at January 7. Tagged volunteers singapore joey
We need help with storing our donations. The problem with our current location is a combination of the following:
4 dogs - a few cats - insufficient packing material - no space!
We had to turn away generous donors away as a result.
Not only do we need storage space, we also need help with stock taking, quality checks and packaging of the donations.
See our Announcements for details.
